Realist philosophy and bioethics founded on natural law demonstrate that human life has an objective ontological value, not reducible to biomedical utilitarianism or the quality of sensory experience. The self-proclaimed progressive culture does not seek the therapeutic mitigation of pain, but the annihilation of its bearer. Eliminating the patient to eliminate the pain is the total surrender of the medical intellect. It is urgent to restore the objective order and oppose iron intellectual resistance to this biological reductionism that corrodes the very basis of our civilization.
